An AI operations playbook is a living document that captures what works, why it works, and how to replicate it.
What a Playbook Contains
For each automated operation, your playbook documents: the business purpose (why this exists), the trigger (what starts it), the process flow (step by step), the decision logic (every if/then), the expected outputs, the error handling procedures, and the performance benchmarks.
This is not a technical manual. It is an operational reference that anyone on your team can use to understand, maintain, and extend the system.
Why Playbooks Matter
People leave. Memories fade. The person who built the automation six months ago might not remember why they made certain decisions.
A playbook preserves that knowledge. When something breaks, the playbook tells you how it should work. When a new team member takes over, the playbook gets them up to speed. When you want to replicate the approach for a different use case, the playbook provides the template.
