Setting Up Automated Email Sequences in 30 Minutes

tl;dr
A step-by-step guide to building an automated email sequence that nurtures leads. Done in 30 minutes.
Here is how to build an automated email nurture sequence from scratch in 30 minutes. Not theory. Actual steps you can follow right now to set up email sequences that nurture leads while you sleep.
Minutes 1-5: Define the Sequence
Three emails over seven days. That is your minimum viable sequence. More is better, but start here.
Email 1 (Day 0): Value delivery. Whatever they signed up for, deliver it. Plus one insight they did not expect.
Email 2 (Day 3): Education. Teach them something relevant to their problem. No selling.
Email 3 (Day 7): Soft call to action. Offer to help. Link to a booking page or next step.
Minutes 6-15: Write the Emails
Use this prompt for each email:
Write a nurture email for [audience].
EMAIL POSITION: [1st/2nd/3rd] in a 3-email sequence
PURPOSE: [value delivery / education / soft CTA]
TOPIC: [specific topic]
TONE: conversational, helpful, not salesy
LENGTH: 150-200 words
INCLUDE: one specific, useful insight they can use today
CTA: [specific action you want them to take]
Write as if emailing a single person, not a list.
Do not use em dashes. Use short paragraphs. Start with something unexpected.
Review each email. Edit for your voice. Add personal details the AI could not know.
Minutes 16-25: Set Up the Automation
In your email platform (whatever you use), create a new automation. Set the trigger to "new subscriber" or "form submission" depending on your entry point.
Add the three emails with delays between them. Day 0 for email 1. Day 3 for email 2. Day 7 for email 3.
Set send times. Tuesday through Thursday, 9am to 11am local time tends to perform best for B2B. Test and adjust based on your data.
Minutes 26-30: Test and Launch
Send yourself a test of each email. Check formatting, links, and that the personalization fields work. Read each one out loud. If it sounds like a robot wrote it, edit until it does not.
Activate the sequence. Monitor open rates and click rates for the first week. If open rates are below 20%, rewrite the subject lines. If click rates are below 2%, strengthen the CTAs.
The whole thing takes 30 minutes. The nurture sequence works for months.
The Iteration Cycle
Your first sequence will not be your best sequence. Plan to revise after 30 days based on performance data.
Look at open rates for each email. If Email 2 has a significantly lower open rate than Email 1, the subject line needs work or the timing is wrong. Look at click rates. If nobody clicks the CTA in Email 3, the offer or the copy needs adjustment.
Make one change at a time so you know what caused the improvement. Test subject lines separately from body copy separately from CTAs.
Setting up automated email sequences in 30 minutes gets you started. The ongoing optimization is what makes the sequence genuinely effective over time.
