Building an AI-Powered Daily Briefing
Jay Banlasan
The AI Systems Guy
tl;dr
Start every day with an automated briefing that tells you what happened, what matters, and what needs attention.
The best operators start their day knowing exactly what needs attention. An ai daily briefing guide shows you how to build that briefing so it generates itself every morning before you sit down.
No checking five different tools. No scrolling through notifications. One document. Everything that matters.
What Goes in the Briefing
Yesterday's performance data. Campaign metrics, revenue, leads, anything with a daily number. Compared to the day before and the weekly average.
Today's calendar. Meetings, deadlines, deliverables due. Pulled from your calendar API.
Blockers and alerts. Anything that crossed a threshold overnight. A campaign overspending. A token expiring. A client email that needs a response.
Tasks in progress. What you were working on yesterday and where you left off.
Building the Data Pulls
Each section needs a data source. Ad platform API for performance. Google Calendar API for schedule. Your project management tool for tasks. Email for client communications.
Write a script for each data pull. They run independently, so if one fails, the others still work. Store the raw data in a local file or database.
A final script reads all the data, passes it to AI with a template, and generates the briefing. The AI writes the narrative, flags anomalies, and prioritizes what needs attention.
The Template
Keep the structure consistent. Same sections every day. Your brain learns where to look.
Section 1: Headlines. Three to five bullet points of what matters most today. Section 2: Performance. Yesterday's numbers with comparisons. Section 3: Calendar. What is on the schedule. Section 4: Action items. What needs doing, prioritized. Section 5: Alerts. Anything unusual.
Delivery
Schedule the briefing to run at 7am. Deliver it wherever you start your day. Slack DM, email, a text file on your desktop.
The briefing should take under 2 minutes to read. If it takes longer, you are including too much. Trim it down to what actually changes your behavior for the day.
After a week of automated briefings, you will wonder how you ever started your day without one.
