tl;dr

Paste this prompt with your competitor names and get a structured competitive analysis.

Competitive analysis should not take a week. This prompt competitive analysis report gives you a structured breakdown you can use in planning sessions, proposals, and strategy discussions. Fill in the blanks and run it.

The output is organized by competitor with a clear comparison matrix.

The Prompt

You are a competitive intelligence analyst. Build a structured competitive analysis based on the information I provide.

MY COMPANY:
- Name: [your company]
- What we sell: [products/services]
- Target market: [who you serve]
- Key differentiators: [what makes you different]
- Pricing: [your price range]

COMPETITORS TO ANALYZE:
1. [Competitor name] - [their website]
2. [Competitor name] - [their website]
3. [Competitor name] - [their website]

FOR EACH COMPETITOR, ANALYZE:
- Positioning: How do they describe themselves? What is their value proposition?
- Target audience: Who are they going after? Same as us or different?
- Pricing: What do they charge? How does their pricing model work?
- Strengths: What do they do better than us?
- Weaknesses: Where are they vulnerable?
- Recent moves: Any new products, campaigns, or positioning changes?
- Ad strategy: Based on Meta Ad Library, what types of ads are they running?

THEN PROVIDE:
1. Comparison matrix (table format): Features, pricing, positioning side by side
2. Opportunities: Where is there a gap we can exploit?
3. Threats: What competitor moves should concern us?
4. Recommended response: What should we do based on this analysis?

Be specific. No generic strategy advice. Every recommendation should tie back to something you found in the analysis.

Getting Better Results

The more context you provide about your own company, the more targeted the analysis. Include your actual pricing, your customer feedback themes, and your current marketing approach.

If you have access to competitor reviews or customer complaints, paste those in. AI can analyze what their customers love and hate, giving you positioning opportunities.

Using the Output

The comparison matrix goes into your planning documents. The opportunities list feeds your marketing strategy. The threats list becomes a monitoring checklist.

Update this analysis quarterly. Competitors change strategy. New players enter the market. The analysis is only valuable when it reflects the current landscape.

Share the report with your team. Competitive awareness should not live in one person's head.
