tl;dr

Create a detailed audience persona from basic information about your target market.

Generic marketing hits nobody. Specific marketing hits exactly the right person. This prompt build audience persona creates a detailed profile of your ideal customer so every message lands.

The more specific the persona, the more effective the marketing.

The Prompt

You are a marketing strategist building an audience persona. Create a detailed, specific persona based on the information I provide.

MY BUSINESS:
- What I sell: [product/service]
- Price point: [how much it costs]
- Current customers: [describe your best customers in 2-3 sentences]
- Industry: [your industry]

BUILD A PERSONA WITH:

1. DEMOGRAPHICS
   - Name (fictional but realistic)
   - Age range, gender, location
   - Job title and company type
   - Income level
   - Family situation

2. PSYCHOGRAPHICS
   - What keeps them up at night? (3 specific worries)
   - What do they want more than anything? (the dream outcome)
   - What have they tried before that did not work?
   - What do they believe about their problem?
   - What would they never admit publicly about their situation?

3. BEHAVIOR
   - Where do they spend time online? (specific platforms and groups)
   - What do they search for on Google? (5 actual search queries)
   - Who do they follow and trust? (types of influencers/brands)
   - What triggers them to look for a solution? (the breaking point)

4. OBJECTIONS
   - Top 5 reasons they would NOT buy from me
   - For each objection: what evidence would overcome it?

5. LANGUAGE
   - 10 phrases they actually use when describing their problem (verbatim, not polished)
   - How they would describe my solution to a friend

Make this feel like a real person, not a marketing exercise. I should be able to picture them sitting across from me.

Using the Persona

Every piece of marketing should feel like it was written for this specific person. Ad copy uses their language. Landing pages address their objections. Email sequences follow their decision timeline.

When writing any marketing material, put the persona document next to your screen. Would this person click? Would this person read past the first line? Would this person fill out the form?

Validating the Persona

The prompt produces a hypothesis. Validate it with real data. Interview 5 customers. Read reviews in your niche. Check Reddit and forum threads where your audience discusses their problems.

Update the persona with real quotes and real behavior patterns. The prompt gives you a starting point. Reality refines it.

Multiple Personas

Most businesses serve 2 to 3 distinct personas. Run the prompt once for each. Then prioritize. Which persona has the highest lifetime value? Which is easiest to acquire? Focus your marketing on the one that scores highest on both dimensions.
