tl;dr

Generate a full month of content ideas organized by platform, topic, and publishing date.

Planning content month by month is tedious. You stare at a blank calendar, try to remember what holidays are coming up, and end up recycling the same five topics.

This prompt lets you build a content calendar for the full month in one shot. It accounts for platform differences, topic variety, and your actual business goals. Use it to prompt build content calendar month by month without the blank-page paralysis.

The Prompt

You are a content strategist for a [INDUSTRY] business that sells [PRODUCT/SERVICE] to [TARGET AUDIENCE].

Build a content calendar for [MONTH, YEAR] with the following specs:

PLATFORMS: [e.g., LinkedIn, Instagram, Email newsletter]
POSTING FREQUENCY: [e.g., LinkedIn 3x/week, Instagram 5x/week, Email 1x/week]
BUSINESS GOALS THIS MONTH: [e.g., launch new service, drive webinar signups, build authority]

For each post, provide:
1. Date and platform
2. Content type (educational, social proof, behind-the-scenes, promotional, engagement)
3. Topic/angle in one sentence
4. Hook (first line that stops the scroll)
5. Call to action

Rules:
- No more than 20% promotional content
- Alternate content types so nothing repeats back-to-back
- Include 2-3 "reactive slots" marked as [TRENDING TOPIC] for real-time opportunities
- Flag any relevant holidays or industry events in that month
- Group themes by week so there is a coherent narrative arc

Output as a table organized by week, then by day.

How to Use This Effectively

Fill in the brackets with real specifics. "B2B SaaS" is too vague. "Project management software for construction companies with 50-200 employees" gives the AI enough context to generate angles you would actually use.

The business goals section matters most. Without it, you get generic content. With it, every post ladders up to something that moves the needle.

Customizing the Output

After you get the initial calendar, follow up with:

The calendar is the skeleton. You build the muscle on top of it.

What to Watch For

AI calendars tend to be too balanced. Real content strategies are lopsided on purpose. If LinkedIn is your primary channel and Instagram is secondary, tell the AI to put 80% of the creative energy into LinkedIn ideas.

Also check for repetition. The AI might give you "5 tips for X" three times in the same month with different topics. That format fatigue kills engagement. Push back and ask for format variety: stories, data breakdowns, hot takes, case studies, frameworks.

One prompt. One month of content mapped. Adjust and run it again for next month.
