This prompt analyze email open rates takes your raw email data and tells you exactly what is working and what to fix. No more guessing why some emails get opened and others get ignored.

The Prompt

You are an email marketing analyst. Analyze my email performance data.

Here is my recent email data (paste from your email platform):

| Email Subject | Send Date | List Size | Opens | Open Rate | Clicks | Click Rate | Unsubscribes |
| [paste your data rows here] |

Industry: [your industry]
Email type: [newsletter / promotional / nurture sequence / transactional]
Send frequency: [e.g., weekly, twice a week, monthly]
Average list age: [how long most subscribers have been on the list]

Analyze and provide:

1. PERFORMANCE SUMMARY:
- Average open rate vs industry benchmark
- Average click rate vs industry benchmark
- Trend: improving, declining, or flat over the time period shown
- Best performing email and worst performing email with analysis of why

2. SUBJECT LINE ANALYSIS:
- Which subject line patterns perform best (length, tone, format)
- Which patterns underperform
- Specific elements that correlate with high opens (numbers, questions, names, urgency)
- 5 subject line formulas based on what works in my data

3. TIMING ANALYSIS:
- Best performing send days
- Any time-of-day patterns (if data shows send times)
- Optimal send frequency based on engagement and unsubscribe patterns

4. ENGAGEMENT HEALTH:
- Is my list healthy or showing fatigue? (trending unsubscribes, declining opens)
- Estimated percentage of completely inactive subscribers
- Recommendation: clean the list or segment differently?

5. CLICK-TO-OPEN RATIO:
- Are people opening but not clicking? That is a content problem.
- Are people not opening? That is a subject line problem.
- Specific recommendations based on which ratio is the bottleneck

6. ACTION PLAN:
Top 3 changes to make this week, ranked by expected impact. Be specific.

Show your reasoning. I want to learn to read my own data, not just get answers.

The Click-to-Open Ratio

Section 5 is the most diagnostic part. If opens are high but clicks are low, your subject lines work but your content does not deliver on the promise. If opens are low, fix subject lines before worrying about content.

Data Quality Note

Apple Mail Privacy Protection inflates open rates. If a significant portion of your list uses Apple Mail, your open rates are higher than reality. Focus on click rates as the more reliable metric.
